When launching this blog, WordPress is so kind to prompt me to “give new readers context.” Well, this has been bubbling for a while. I have all these thoughts and no where to put them. I wanted an outlet.
I’ve come full circle too. I started my first blog in 2010, when blogging was cool. Then, I suppose I veered into social media, where my journey of expressing myself to friends then to the crazy masses became anxiety-ridden and dumb.
Since I happen to build digital tools for a living, and this is pretty fun… The Side Note is sharing Thoughtful Commentary On Life yet again in a website format.
And to make my introduction even more nostalgic, here is an old article I dug up from that fateful day

Finally At The Beginning
I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a while now. Sadly, after touting myself as a writer for years, I am just getting starting. The cool things is… I have a lot of material already. I jot down ideas for writing topics all the time. I keep scraps of paper in my purse, my car, my nightstand – you name it. I wake up from a dream sometimes and think, “This is definitely worth remembering.”
I was finally inspired to move forward recently for several reasons. One, I need a creative outlet. I need a place to think out loud, to hone my so-called skills. Two, my boyfriend was totally into it. I think he sees this as a first step to achieving my actual aspirations in life. Three, I watched Julie & Julia the other night. I know it sounds corny, but the movie (inspired by a true story, I might add) helped me visualize what blogging with a purpose can be like.
I like to think of my posts as “side notes” for life. I can envision them being short, thought-provoking additions to what we deal with on a daily basis – bringing insight, wonder or just plain fun to the world around us. I expect a sense of peace from writing and hope for a sense of interest from readers. Here goes nothing…
